Good day all. I'm still really new to this. But I bought a new Tascam model 2400 console and recorder. And just like the model 12/16/24 its has build in eq and effects, and compression. So my question is this. If I wanted to say run my guitar track through an outboard eq during mix down, how do I do that? My thought would be to send the track to one of the 4 AUX outputs, into the outboard gear, and then back into the console on a new channel. Does this sound correct? I have no background in this. So please if you are just going to reply to my question with smart ass comments, save it. Thank you all.

Well, I had a very rounded and complete answer to your inquiry...
But your smug arrogance in shading others' posts and qualifying what kind of answers are acceptable to you merits only a "yuh-huh..good luck with that" response. And having ignored/not responded to all who helped you in your FIRST post also doesn't encourage input.
Good luck.

1. A quick review of the "Tips and Tricks" sticky thread would have given you an immediate answer, so no need to repeat it here.

2. We take time away from our day, often a lot of time, trying to help people. But surprisingly, we don't sit around all day waiting for people to post. So generally we don't waste our time dealing with things readily found in the stickies, by doing a search, or that are explained in an owner manual.

3. It's common courtesy to acknowledge and thank those who try to help. You only get one chance to make a first impression. A simple "like" at least makes an acknowledgement. A reply post telling us if the advice given solved the problem, or answered the question, is the best acknowledgement.

This isn't "a smart ass comment"; just thought you might want to adjust your attitude. ;)

BTW, what happened with you're DP-24SD? Did you sell it? What motivated you to go with the 2400 instead?

Sorry everyone. I didn't mean to hurt anyone's feelings. I never saw any reply's back in november and I sold my DP 24 a few days later. I couldn't get buttons to work, the thing was glitchy and would black out and shut off. So I got rid of it. On facebook I get "smart ass" comments like "get a DAW and an interface" or "Read the owners manual". So I'm sorry if I hurt feelings. I'm an old guy who's not great with computers. I'm sorry and I'll remove myself from the forum. I'm just not great at this stuff.

@JohnnyD81 now that we have put it into perspective, I guess we could talk about your question.
Look at the top panel of the Model 2400: the first 12 channels have a jack labeled "insert" which Tascam designers have thoughtfully placed after the input selector switch.
It means that you can apply external effects to either live instruments (MIC/LINE), recorded tracks (MTR) or anything coming from the PC (USB) provided you have a TRS to dual-TS split cable (or Y-cable).
I guess you already got the picture: your guitar (live) must be on channel 1 or 2 in order to use insert effects and proper input impedance, or on channel 1- 12 if tracked or externally preamplified (at line level).
Stereo channels 13 to 20 have no insert jack so you may want to use one or more AUX Sends to feed external effect units and route their output to free channels on the Model 2400.

Now for the bitter part: you have to read the manual to master your gear, and the block diagram is of great help when trying to figure out what is (or isn't) happening on the Model 2400. There is no escape from this basic rule.

P.s: I wouldn't comment on the quality of "helping" comments posted on Facebook. This is a safe place, thankfully.

Wait, you never saw the replies to your first post? You sold the DP-24 after that?

We didn't hear anything from you either. Buttons not working, "black out and shut off" problems (a new one for me) and "glitchy" are not normal but we'll never know the cause.

So what happens when you "remove" yourself from the forum? You will have exhausted your help resources in less than messages. Not good.

While you may not like it "read the manual" is a valid comment. No one likes having their time wasted.

If you don't want you read the manual you can upload it to Google NotebookLM and then ask Google all your questions. These forums are being replaced by AI anyway.
