Tascam 2488 drum patterns out over MIDI?

Thinking of getting a 2488 (MK1) & wondered if anyone can tell me if the inbuilt drum patterns come out over midi? In other words, if you plug the midi out into something like a midi drum sound module or into say EZDrummer on a PC can you trigger their sounds from the drum pattern midi note numbers transmitted from the 2488? I would have thought the answer is yes but I can't find anything in the manuals so it would be great if someone with a 2488 (mk1) could say yes or no here.

No-one? Think I've found the answer anyway on page 76 of the manual where it says
"2 Use the wheel to select either SMF (file player)
or PATTERN or OFF).
3 You can also turn MIDI OUT either ON or OFF.
NOTE
This allows you to use the 2488’s playback facilities to
drive external MIDI devices, whose audio outputs can
then be recorded through the audio inputs of the 2488"
but it would be good to hear from someone to confirm for sure that this works.
