Guys, hello!
I did rebuild both of my Tascam 42 motors. New NSK bearings, new caps, commutator cleaned and such...
Both motors feel stronger now. However, one of them vibrates slightly while the other is incredibly smooth.
I do suspect the spindle/turntable got hit hard sometime in the machine's past life, as the spindle was slightly bent when I got the machine.
Do you guys have any experience in balancing the motors and such? I haven't measured the shaft for TIR, but it doesn't look or feel bent.
Or shall I just get a replacement one and call it a day? Or maybe this isn't too much of a hassle as the reels themselves will present a much more unbalanced/vibrating load to the motors than the actual motor unbalance?
Thank you!
