connecting dm-3200 to x-48

How do I set up the transport with the Dm-3200 to the old x-48 recorder?
I can’t get the play and record buttons to work

I can't believe there isn't a Tascam manual written for this subject. The DM was intended to be - among other things - a companion piece to the X-48.

I was under the impression you needed to connect an RS422 cable and all is well. It should be that simple.
