Using Model 12 as DAW Controller (Logic) - Pickup Mode

There is a setting under preferences/control surfaces/general called Pickup Mode. Checking this would allow the Model 12 volume fader to start working when it reaches the volume already set within Logic. Even though I have it checked, the volume immediately changes as soon as you touch the Model 12 fader. Does anyone use this or know of a setting on the Model 12 that needs to be changed in order for Pickup Mode to work?

I have tried this as well and it doesn't work.

. This video explains how they worked around it but that's it. I have a big problem of the Model 12 just not working as a DAW controller for Logic at all.
