MIDI stops working on Mac

I've got two Tascam devices - a Model 12 and a US-16x08 - connected to a Mac M4 Mini running the latest version of Logic Pro X. I've tried connecting my MIDI keyboard (a Yamaha S80) to both of them. Periodically MIDI input into Logic will stop working and not start working again until I restart the Tascam device. This happens both with both devices. So maybe it's some weird glitch on my Mac....or maybe the MIDI firmware is common to both devices and there is some kind of bug. Anyone else have this problem?
