Tascam dp32
Hi. I’ve recently made the move from a Zoom R8 to theTascam DP32 which I am really pleased with. I’ve imported numinous WAV files that were previously projects on the R8 into the Tascam and would like to know if there is any way I create some space at the beginning of the tracks as they were originally recorded with a pre count. I just need some time to allow me to grab an instrument before recording starts! I’m sure there will be an easy answer but I just can’t see it. I appreciate any help. Thanks

Welcome to the forum. You could use the Move/Paste option under Track Edit. It only works on one track at a time, but once you've set the 3 time values (see below), it remembers them when you repeat for each track. All Track Edit operations are instantaneous and can be undone...
Set the IN marker to time zero.
Set the OUT marker to just after the end of the longest track.
Set the current transport position to the size of space reqd, e.g. 10 secs. This is the TO point described in the Track Edit instructions.
Invoke the Move/Paste operation with the source & target track nos. set to the same value.
Repeat the last step for each track in turn... just don't nudge the jog wheel or you'll mess up the TO position!

Hey Rusty - welcome to the forum. At the top of this forum there are a number of sticky threads that are full of useful information - particularly if your are new to the DP-24/32(SD) series. You may want to start with the video tutorial series and work through those for a more full understanding of the many functions.

Specific to your query: You'll want to use the "move/paste" function found in the track "Edit" menu - and move each track exactly the same amount of time (assuming you want them to line up perfectly) in order to leave some dead space ahead of each.

Thanks Phil/Dave. I did’nt want go to diving in and making a mess of it! I’ll do the editing tonight. This has only been an issue with my previous recordings on the zoom due to the count in. I’ve already started watching your tutorials on YouTube Phil and they’re fantastic. Taking my time watching them just so I can walk before I run!!! Again thanks for you help. A great forum

Have just been informed by Mark that you can select ALL for the track no. so you can move the whole lot in one go! Have also found the OPEN function is even easier than MOVE/PASTE as it just needs IN & OUT points to open up a blank space, so this does exactly what you wanted. This machine just keeps on giving :)
